- Location: Teachers and staff at High Jump will work in person at 1 of 3 campuses
- University of Chicago Lab Schools (5835 South Kimbark Ave, Chicago, IL 60637)
- Latin School of Chicago (59 W North Blvd, Chicago, IL 60610)
- Francis W. Parker (330 W Webster Ave, Chicago, IL 60614)
- Summer session classes run Monday through Friday and are tentatively scheduled as follows:
- Dates: June 29 - July 31st (with the exception of July 3rd)
- Time: 7:45am - 3:00pm.
- Day to Day Pay Rate
The pay rate for Summer Session 2026 is $30 per hour, based on experience.

This is a seasonal, on-site role that involves working with our existing teaching team in the event of planned or unplanned absences. Duties include reviewing lesson plans, delivering instruction, and maintaining classroom management in a variety of subjects and grades. The Day to Day Substitute Teacher will also provide a supportive and nurturing learning environment for students to thrive in. The job of a Campus Substitute Teacher is to be on call and present in the event of an absence. Campus Managers will communicate in advance of an absence.
In the event that you will be covering a class you will
- Supervise the classroom and teach the lesson left by an absent teacher.
- Maintain a functioning classroom
- Utilize classroom management skills
- Leave a clean classroom
- Teach the provided curriculum
- Report concerns to your Campus Manager
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Associates degree minimum; bachelors degree preferred
- Teaching certification not required but preferred for content areas
- Experience working with students or in organizations that serve youth
